Being Impossible / Yo Imposible
Being Impossible tackles the complex subject of sexual identity that defies binary definitions.
Director Patricia Ortega’s (SLAFF 2018 The Invisible T) second feature is an examination of bias, shame and, ultimately, the freedom to choose to be who you are.
Ariel is a young dressmaker who discovers, after a failed sexual relationship, that her life has been built on a lie.
Raised as a girl, Ariel learns that she was born intersex and was subjected to a series of surgeries to make her female. Gender as a physical and social construct is explored with an intimate and critical eye in this compelling and confronting film that challenges many of our most strongly held assumptions.
